What ingredients are part of Green Chef's keto meal delivery?

Green Chef keto recipes contain ingredients such as:

  • Meat: beef, pork, chicken, turkey and duck

  • Seafood: sustainable fish and king prawns

  • Leafy greens: spinach, kale, cavolo nero, etc.

  • Above-ground vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, etc.

  • Limited root vegetables: carrots

  • Nuts and seeds: brazil nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds

  • Avocados

  • Dairy: creme fraiche, Greek yoghurt, natural yoghurt, soured cream

    Green Chef Keto recipes have no:

  • Grains: wheat, corn, rice, cereal, etc.

  • Tubers: potatoes, etc.

  • Soy

Do you show net or total carbs for your keto recipes?
In the UK, the carbohydrates that are displayed are net carbs. For all of our recipes, including keto, we declare net carbs on the front of our recipe cards next to the other macronutrients, as well as on our website and app.
How many carbs do Green Chef's keto recipes contain?
Our keto recipes contain no more than 20g of net carbohydrates per serving.
Is keto right for me?
Please consult your GP before making any significant dietary changes. We also have a lower carb option if keto is not for you.
Do you have a low carb preference?
Yes, we do! If you’re after a reduced carb intake but don't want to go fully keto, our lower carb plan balances a high protein content (20g or more per serving) with a measured amount (under 35g) of high-quality, complex carbohydrates like whole grains, and generous amounts of veg.
Do you have other preferences (not just keto)?
We have six different meal preferences, and you can mix and match them each week. Choose from Keto, Lower Carb, Vegan, Vegetarian, Flexitarian and Pescatarian.
How do you calculate the carbs for your keto recipes?
Our meals are all designed by nutritionists to be in line with ketogenic guidelines. Our 20g carb limit per serving is based on the idea that you will split your 50g carb consumption across three meals a day (for example, eating 10g of carbs for breakfast and 20g for lunch and dinner), but we appreciate that this might vary depending on your total caloric intake. Everyone approaches keto differently, particularly for those practicing intermittent fasting or one meal a day. In these cases we'd recommend you adapt your Green Chef dish to your specific needs.
Some of the recipes on the menu aren't keto - what's going on?
We offer 6 different meal preferences so some of the recipes you are viewing are not keto. To view the keto recipes on offer, make sure to look for the “keto“ tag below the recipe names on the menu.
Do you have a vegetarian keto plan?
We don't currently have a vegetarian keto plan, but we do have vegetarian and vegan recipes if you're not following a strict keto diet.
When will you start offering more variety within the keto preference?
We offer new keto recipes each week, and we take inspiration from cuisines from around the world, so there's lot of variety to choose from. Expect everything from familiar favourites likes burgers, to loaded salads and spicy curries.
Can I swap out proteins or ingredients I don't like?
We offer a selection of customisable recipe options, you can upgrade your protein or 'make it vegan' and as we grow, hopefully, so will our customisable options. Please view our weekly menus to see this week's recipe options.
Do you offer keto meal plans for an entire day (i.e. breakfast, lunch, dinner)?
We don't currently offer any breakfast options, but watch this space! As we grow, it's something we'd love to look into. Our recipes are suitable for lunch and dinner: try adding an extra portion to your box, so you can have a meal the next day.
Can you display the carbs nutritionals prominently?
The nutritional info for all our recipes is available online, on the app and on the recipe cards. When you're online, all you need to do is click on the menu item once to bring up nutritional info.
Do you do keto desserts?
We don't currently offer any keto desserts, however, as we grow, it's something we'd love to look into.
Why can't I pick the same keto recipe twice?
Currently we don't offer this functionality on our website but we know that this is something our customers are interested in so as we grow it's something we'd love to look into.
Do you do ready meal keto?
Our keto dishes are not ready meals, but they're simple-to-follow recipes that are usually ready in 20 minutes or less. We send everything you need to make a delicious dish, straight out of the box.
Why do you use sugar in your keto recipes?
Some of our ingredients may contain some sugars, which are either inherent or used for flavour and functionality. We always ensure carbohydrates (including sugars) in our recipes are below 20g, to adhere with our recommendations for keto.
Why do you use sweet potato in your keto recipes?
Following customer feedback, we no longer use any sweet potato in our keto recipes.
